I love Wintertime! Maybe it's because wintertime can feel like a big warm hug. What do I mean by Wintertime is like a big hug? Well for example, in the wintertime if you're out with family or friends and its cold, you have to stand in a huddle to stay warm. What about when you put on layers of clothing and they hug your body, or when you put on your coat, hat and scarf and it feels like a tight hug from grandma. These are some examples I could think of immediately, but can you recall a time in the winter when something made you feel like you were receiving a big hug?
WINTERTIME ACTIVITY
Give your students a writing or story telling assignment and ask them to express or write down what they like about the winter season.
Have them draw a picture or bring in a item from home that represents the positive winter memory. (The teacher or parent should do the assignment as well.)
Have everyone speak individually about the item or picture they are presenting and why it gives them a positive feeling about the wintertime.
I created this activity to help spread positive feelings. We all have wonderful memories we can share bringing smiles and even happy tears to others. This exercise will give you a renewed strength in humanity, kindness, & love. Enjoy!
